HEALTHCARE AND MEDICAL

Having easy access to doctors, mental health professionals, natural and holistic care providers, and pharmacies is essential for staying healthy. Medical providers help with physical health, behavioral health providers support mental well-being, natural and holistic care providers offer alternative approaches to wellness, and pharmacies make sure you get the medications and advice you need. Together, they create a strong support system that helps you take care of your health and live a better life.

To navigate each section, scroll through the listings in the table. Clicking the agency or office name listed will direct you to their website if available. If you click anywhere else on a specific listing, a new page will open, providing more details than the spaces in the table will hold. Use the buttons below to jump to a specific section.

INTEGRATED HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

An integrated care provider is a healthcare professional who helps with both your mind and body. They offer services like doctor check-ups and treatment for physical health, as well as support for mental health, like counseling or therapy. This way, they make sure your whole health—both how you feel physically and mentally—is taken care of together.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

Behavioral healthcare providers offer services to help people manage mental health issues, substance use disorders, and related challenges. They provide treatments like counseling, therapy, and medication management, all aimed at improving mental and emotional well-being. The goal is to support individuals in leading healthier, more fulfilling lives.

MEDICAL HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

Medical healthcare providers help people stay healthy by offering a range of services, from regular check-ups to treating illnesses and managing long-term conditions. They diagnose and treat health issues, provide preventive care, and work to keep everyone in good physical health. Their main goal is to help people live healthier lives and manage any health problems they may have.

PHARMACIES

A pharmacy offers a variety of services to support your health. These include filling prescriptions, providing over-the-counter medications, and offering advice on how to use them safely. Pharmacists are available to answer health-related questions and provide guidance on managing your medications. Many pharmacies also offer additional services like flu shots, vaccinations, health screenings, and general health advice.

NATURAL AND HOLISTIC PROVIDERS

Explore a range of natural and holistic health services to promote wellness and balance in mind, body, and spirit. From acupuncture and herbal medicine to massage therapy and chiropractic care, these services offer alternative and complementary approaches to traditional healthcare, helping you achieve optimal health through personalized, gentle, and natural methods.

Partners Aligned Toward Health (PATH) has a great online program that introduces folks to complementary practices. It is a self-enrolled course that is free for anyone wanting to learn more.  There are also pop-up events scheduled throughout the year where you can test drive the practices in person. This is the Home Remedies Program. The link below will answer any questions you may have about the program.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The Mitchell Yancey Prevention and Recovery Coalition (MYPRC) and the Place-Based Public Health Program through UNC-Chapel Hill - Gillings and Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) have collaborated to create this website. The mission of this website is to catalog resources available to residents of Mitchell and Yancey counties in one easily accessible location. The website aims to improve community health and simplify access to support services for residents, providers, and volunteers.

NEED SERVICES RELATED TO MENTAL HEALTH OR SUBSTANCE USE?

Partners Aligned Toward Health (PATH) creates a comprehensive Substance Use and Mental Health Resource Guide every other year. The guide includes both resources local to Mitchell and Yancey counties, as well as resources outside of the area. The most recent 2024 version is available for download as a PDF and is available in Spanish.

DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY OR NEED TO UPDATE LISTED INFORMATION?

Getting your information listed or updated on the website is quick and easy. We use Google Forms to collect information, and you decide which information will be shared with the public. If there's a section that isn't applicable to you or your agency, leave it blank.
